Help and frequently asked questions

SwipelyNews is a free short news app for iPhone and Android. Each story is a full-screen reel: swipe up for the next one. Every story comes from a real article by a news outlet, is summarized by AI, and always shows the outlet's name with a link to the full article. How it works

No. Every story is reported by a news outlet. AI only condenses the outlet's article into a neutral headline and a short summary, and picks photos or videos from that article. The outlet is always credited and its full article is one tap away. How AI summaries work

From hundreds of news outlets around the world, in the 9 languages the app supports. Each story shows the outlet's logo and name, and a "Read on" button that opens the original article on the outlet's own website. Stories about the same event from different outlets are grouped under Full coverage.

Summaries aim to be a faithful short version of the article, but AI can miss details or nuance, and sometimes gets things wrong. That's why every story is labelled "AI summary" and links to the original article. Check the original for anything important, and use Report in the app if a summary is wrong. How AI summaries work

The feed works the same way: full-screen stories you swipe up through, a double-tap to react, and a For You feed that learns what you like. But there are no creators, comments or uploads. Every story comes from a news outlet and links to its original article.

No news source is perfectly neutral, so we focus on independence and transparency. We're not affiliated with any party, government, religious or interest group, or news outlet. Your feed is ranked automatically by recency, popularity, your country and your own settings, never by political viewpoint. Summaries are written to be neutral and to attribute claims to their source, but AI can still make mistakes or introduce bias, so every story links to the original, and Full coverage lets you compare outlets. Use Report in the app or write to support@swipelynews.com if something seems wrong. How your feed works

The app is available in English, French, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Arabic. Your language and region are set from your phone, and you can change both at any time in Settings.

Yes. SwipelyNews is available on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android phones. There is no web version of the feed, but shared story links open in the app, or show the outlet and a link to the original article.

Yes. SwipelyNews is free to download and use, with no subscription and no sign-up. Your first few days on a phone are completely free. After that, you can watch an optional short video to unlock unlimited news for a while. That's the only kind of ad in the app: no banners.

Rewarded videos are how SwipelyNews stays free. After your free days, when your unlocked time runs out, the next swipe shows a card offering a short video. Watching one unlocks unlimited news for a set time, and you always see the reward before you watch. There's a daily maximum, and the last video of the day unlocks the rest of the day (until midnight UTC).

Opening the original article is never locked. Stories opened from a shared link or a notification, Discover, your saved stories, your profile, settings and the legal pages are never locked either. If a video can't load, the app usually unlocks the time anyway (once a day).

No. You can start reading straight away. Your reactions and saves are kept with a guest profile linked to this phone. If you want to keep them when you change phones, you can create a free account at any time with an email code, Google or Apple. There are no passwords.

SwipelyNews is for adults: you need to be 18 or older. We ask everyone for their year of birth once and don't store it. If you're under 18, the app stays locked on that phone until your 18th birthday. Terms of Service

Long-press a story or tap ⋯ to choose Not interested, Hide a topic or country, or Turn off an outlet. Hidden topics, hidden countries and turned-off outlets never appear in your feed. You can restore them in Settings › Your feed › Interests, Countries or News sources. How your feed works

Your For You feed is ranked using what you read, react to, save and share, the stories you mark as not interested or report, and the country your connection comes from. We also use this activity to avoid showing you the same story twice and to keep your saves and reactions. You can switch personalization off at any time in Settings › Your feed (Personalized feed), and the Latest tab is never personalized. You can also hide topics, turn off outlets or delete your data at any time. Rewarded videos come from our ad partner, Google AdMob: depending on where you live and your choices (consent, Do Not Sell or Share, iOS tracking permission), the ads may be personalized. Privacy Policy

We show a short AI summary with your logo and name, plus up to four photos or videos from the article, and send readers to your full article with a prominent link that's never locked. We never republish full articles. You can opt out (robots.txt or email), ask for corrections, or send a takedown notice at any time. For publishers · Copyright policy
