Accessibility statement

Effective date: 8 October 2026 (2026-10-08) · Last updated: 8 October 2026

We want everyone to be able to keep up with the news on SwipelyNews. We aim for the App and swipelynews.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and we test with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android). We haven't had a formal accessibility audit yet.

What we support

  • Screen-reader labels on every control, with a "Next story" action, so you don't need to swipe.
  • Auto scroll pauses automatically while a screen reader is on.
  • Your system text size; the article reader also has its own text size (85–150%).
  • Reduce Motion support, and no flashing content.
  • Graphic media is blurred until you choose to view it.
  • Colour contrast that meets AA for text in both light and dark themes.
  • Right-to-left layout for Arabic.
  • Captions and alt text supplied by publishers, where they exist.

Known limitations

  • Publisher media. Some publisher videos have no captions, and some images have no descriptions. We show what publishers provide.
  • Publisher websites. Original articles open on publishers' own websites, which we don't control.
  • Rewarded videos. These are supplied by our ad partner, and they may not be fully accessible.
  • Auto-generated summaries. Translations may not always read naturally in every language.

Feedback

If something isn't accessible to you, tell us at support@swipelynews.com (subject: "Accessibility") (or support@swipelynews.com). Describe what you were trying to do and which device you use. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
